Our Cause Becomes Clearer

Over the weekend a series of car bombs in Iraq left scores of innocent civilians dead. These are the people Michael Moore describes as, "the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen," but it seems they only have enough backbone to attack the unarmed as opposed to taking on Bush's automon legions of fascist death. I'm not sure which public school Moore might have been indoctrinated in, but as near as I can remember George Washington never rode about massacring civilians on the side of the road, but that probably has something to do with the fact that Washington attended a church and not some Wahabist-mosque. Anyway, from the AP, we read:

BAGHDAD, Iraq Dec 19, 2004 — Car bombs rocked Iraq's two holiest Shiite cities Sunday, killing at least 62 people and wounding more than 120, while in owntown Baghdad dozens of gunmen carried out a brazen ambush on car, pulling out three election officials and executing them on the pavement in the middle of morning traffic.

The bombs exploded an hour apart. First, a suicide blast ripped through parked minibuses at the entrance to the Karbala bus station. Then a car bomb shattered a central square in Najaf, crowded with residents watching a funeral procession. The city police chief and provincial governor were among the group but were not hurt.

Also Sunday, a militant group claimed to have kidnapped 10 Iraqis working for an American security contractor, threatening to kill them unless the company pulls out of Iraq.

The violence was the latest in an insurgent campaign to disrupt the crucial Jan. 30 elections, the first national polls since the fall of Saddam Hussein. [emphasis added]

Nice team you're rooting for there Mike.

Despite the rambling incoherencies of Uberweight 9/11 can there be any doubt that what the terrorists truly fear is people with the freedom to decide on how to live their lives? Is there really any debate left that we are battling the enemies of democracy just as GWB 2.0 has claimed all along? Zarqawi and his band of thugs do not want the Iraqi people to be like Americans where we are free to vote our conscience, worship in peace or even make asinine films without fear of government retaliation.

However, Zarqawi's tactics are alienating him from the people he would see dominated. StrategyPage.com reports:
December 21, 2004: Suicide car bombs in the last three days have left nearly a hundred dead. Most shocking were several attacks in the Shia holy cities of Najaf and Karbala. These attacks in southern Iraq caused Shia leaders to call for peace between Sunni and Shia, and for the use of armed volunteers to guard polling places for the upcoming elections. The bombings also brought forth many tips from citizens, and over fifty people have been arrested as suspects in these attacks, and earlier ones. There are over a million Sunni Arabs living in southern Iraq, but they have not encouraged terrorist attacks in order to avoid retaliation from the much larger number of Shia in the area. Abu Musab al Zarqawi and his al Qaeda killers are believed to be responsible for most of the car bombings. Zarqawi wants a religious dictatorship in Iraq, and believes that if he sets off bombs in Shia areas, he can trigger retaliation from Shia and cause a civil war in Iraq. While nearly all the current violence in Iraq is committed by Sunni Arabs, it's only a minority of the Sunni Arab community. Zarqawi knows that unless he can get more people fighting (either the Americans, the government or just other Iraqis), then the new democratic government might succeed. This would be a major defeat for al Qaeda. However, Zarqawi's tactics are not popular inside al Qaeda. Osama bin Laden apparently does not approve, as bin Ladens latest taped message made no mention of Zarqawis operations (he encouraged attacks on oil facilities instead, something Zarqawi is not keen on.) Bin Laden believes that it's all about money, and that if you destroy the oil income, the current Arab governments will fall, and Islamic dictatorships can take over. [emphasis added]
Calls for peace, protecting polling stations, cooperation between civilians and tyhe authorities to arrest the perpetrators. Methinks democracy is a thing people thirst for even if it is brought by American infidels.
